Keeping a Shopify catalog in sync with suppliers who change daily
Stock, price and variant drift is a data problem before it is a store problem. A practical sync architecture.

A dropshipping catalog is only as good as its last sync. Suppliers change prices without notice, retire variants, and reuse SKUs for different products. By the time a customer sees the wrong price, the error is several hours old.
The fix is not a faster script. It is treating supplier data as an external source with its own validation layer before anything reaches the store.
The sync we build
Three stages, so a bad supplier feed never writes directly into Shopify.
Every unexplained price on a storefront is a reconciliation step somebody skipped.
Collect: scheduled extraction per supplier, normalized into one internal product schema.
Reconcile: match on stable identifiers, flag SKU reuse and price moves beyond a threshold for review.
Publish: push only validated deltas to Shopify, with a full history of what changed and why.
